1. INTRODUCTION Let X be a compact Hausdorff space and let C(X) be the Banach algebra of complex-valued continuous functions on X. We say that F : C(X) [right arrow] C(X) is entire (in the sense of Lorch) if it is Frechet differentiable at every point w [member of] C(X) and its differential is given by a multiplication operator [L.sub.w](h) = F'(w)h, for some F'(w) [member of] C(X) (see [6] for details). We denote the set of entire functions by H(C(X)) and make it into a unital algebra with the usual operations.
